5 Weeks Old

It doesn't seem possible that Caroline has been with us for 5 weeks, but it's also hard to remember not looking into her blue eyes.

Mat Play

Caroline has really started to enjoy being on her mat. She was playing with her cousins on Saturday when this was taken.

1st Saturday of Spring

Caroline slept through most of her first outing to Dogfish Head Brew Pub in Rehoboth Beach. Don't worry...it wasn't 90 Minute IPA induced.
After getting home from Rehoboth, Caroline enjoyed some play time watching her animal rattles parade about.

Apologies

Sorry for not posting anything new in over a week...guess the weekly update goal is harder than I had anticipated. We did manage to capture some video of Caroline on her play mat with Jax that has been uploaded on the right. We'll keep working on posting more often.

Hard to Resist

So we've read that babies can't be spoiled and that a newborn doesn't have the ability to knowingly manipulate you...let's hope this is true because we can't resist picking Caroline up when she shoots a look like this when in her bouncy.

A Photography Lesson

Here's a tip when taking pictures of babies: angle is important. The wrong angle will leave your daughter looking like at 6'4" frog child.

New Bunny

This picture was too funny to not post. She seems to enjoy her latest blankie addition from friends in South Carolina.

1st Doctor's Office Visit

Caroline had a great 1st checkup Monday morning. She now weighs 8 lbs 9 oz (up 6 oz from birth, and 13 oz from leaving the hospital). She measured 21 inches...down from 21.5 at birth, but the doctor assured us she has not shrunk. :)

March Madness Begins

Caroline during the quarter & semifinal rounds of the CAA tourney. Hopefully she gets to "celebrate" tomorrow night as well. She'll be ready...and ready for MWC & ACC tournaments next weekend.

Home from Work

Work felt more like "work" on Thursday than ever before, but getting home was great.

Week 1 Wrap Up & 1st Trip Out

The past week has been a bit of a tired blur, but it has been filled with a lot of laughs, smiles, and joy as well. Beth has continued to be amazing and although I know it could change tonight, Caroline has proven to be a laid back, easy to care for baby. With the exception of her first night at home, she slept a lot, took to breastfeeding within the first 35 minutes of her birth and continues to eat well, and she has only really gotten fussy when hungry. Hoping to take advantage of Caroline’s demeanor this week and hoping to prevent going stir crazy from being in the house all week Beth and I decided to take our first family outing today.

This small excursion proved to be another opportunity for a lesson learned: getting out of the house with a baby is no small task, but is definitely worth the effort. After showers, me getting ready, Beth getting ready, and getting Caroline ready: feeding her, changing her, dressing her, and everything else necessary, it took 3 hours from 1st shower to out the door. 3 hours??? Seriously? I can roll out of bed and have $200,000,000, half a million pound airplane in the air in less time than I can get an 8 pound baby and two adults out of the house? As mentioned above it did turn out to be worth the effort. We made it to Target (pretty nice little Sunday…would have made it Bed, Bath & Beyond, but we just didn’t have enough time) where Caroline and I waited in the car while Beth picked up some lounge wear. From there we got milkshakes and headed home before the snow began. Caroline seems to enjoy being in her car seat—she slept the entire time we were gone so I’m guessing she at least didn’t hate it. If it stops snowing anytime soon she’ll be back in it tomorrow for a trip to doctor in the afternoon. Look for a tweet about that or a snow update tomorrow.
